AMA Gold Leader Club

Once again, the Spirits of St Louis Radio Control Club meets the AMA requirements to retain our Gold Leader Club status. It is due to the hard work and dedication of our Members by which we retain this status.

Here are some of the requirements for the Leader Club Program:

  • Required
    • Clubs must have been chartered by AMA for a minimum of five years.
    • Club membership must be open to all AMA members and not limited to a certain number.
    • Clubs must develop and post Safety and Operational Rules at their flying sites.
    • Clubs must file a copy of Safety and Operational Rules at AMA Headquarters.
    • A club’s flying field must have separate areas for fliers and spectators, clearly marked as such.
    • The AMA Safety Code must be posted and visible at the club field.
  • Electives
    • Club donates to the AMA Scholarship Program or donates Model Aviation or ParkPilot magazines to a local school or library.
    • Club conducts a review of the AMA Safety Code at a club meeting at least once ayear.
    • Club sponsors an annual public event such as a mall show, flying site or demonstration.
    • Club monitors noise levels and/or institutes club rules such as the guidelines that models be operated at 96 dB measured from a 20-foot distance over soft field (sod) or 98 dB measured from a 20-foot distance over hard surface (pavement/concrete).
    • Club has created an informational handout and provides it to the general public.
    • Club participates in a charity program(s) or public fund-raising event such as National Model Aviation Day
    • Club has a formal lease or written agreement for theuse of its flying site, or owns its site.
    • Club participates in the AMA Introductory Pilot Program or has its own instructional program.
