Field Committee Report – Dave Brown

Dave Brown is the new Field Committee Chair. Dave and Terry have been busy at the field. They’ve filled and sealed many of the cracks. Painted the concrete patches black to try bring solar heat to them and limit the freeze-lift issue. Graded the gravel in drive flat. Finished winterizing the field. They continue the ongoing battle to take out the moles. The First Aid box at field has had some cold packs and plastic bags added to better aid with getting a separate digit reattached. We have asked about topping a tree that is directly on centerline at the West end of field, Larry Ostmann says no for the moment, but is checking with the other property owner members to see if they find this acceptable. For now, fly around the tree!

    – Rich Taylor offered suggestion that we not offer the Lifetime Membership option to help with financial issues. More detail of the impact for this needed. Anyone can donate extra at renewal or by using the “DONATE to the SPIRITS” button on website at anytime.

    – 2026 Calendar of Events (so far) read in summary, most already on website calendar.

    – Tues Dec 16, 7pm – Club Meeting/Christmas Party will be at Steve Pokorney’s house.

-Email chain distributed for suggestions and updates to rules/processes for 2026 Pylon Racing series. So far, Uproar and Four Star 40’s are fine as they are, no adjustments needed. For 2026 Series, we would not run any class with less than 2 entries for competition. Eying the Electric Warbirds for some adjustment as the FMS P-51s dominate (very fast) and they are likely to be dropped by FMS soon per Mauve, the FMS factory rep.

Initial testing of Arrows Avanti 50mm EDF is favorable – They are fast and cheap. There are 3 models, Avanti S, Viper and BAE Hawk, all of which very equal performance (per RCGroups, etc). Dan reported repeatedly running ~2 minutes on 4S 1500mAh packs – and 8 laps! Possibly a 1800-2000mAh battery would be the ticket for competition, Dan will update further with additional testing. For comparison, the FMS P51’s run ~17s/lap…so these little planes are fast – not an newbie class – and if all run same battery, parity should be simple. HobbyZone.com selling right now for ~$130 each minus batteries and receiver. Dan has some Tattu R-Line V3 4S 2000 120C packs on the way to test (~$40ea). CG is the limitation on battery size. Everyone would need to customize their livery for race identification if this class moves forward.

    – Report for 1 Nov, Sat – Fall Fly-In / Chili Cookout / Canned Food Drive, Bob Schmidt took the canned goods collected to a local food pantry. Thank you Bob!

Adjourn  8:05pm   Sec    Stephen Adams
