Spirits RC Flying Club Meeting at Bob Gizzie Memorial Field, meeting called to order @ 7pm
President’s Message
Meeting decorum or just go informal? Overwhelmingly, a formal meeting is desired by membership.
– Please come to our meetings, but while meeting is in order, please refrain from cross talk and side bar discussions. Our meetings only have about 30 minutes of actual substance generally, it’s the out of order discussions that bog them down and distract. Everyone gets more out of the meetings when only one person is talking, many cannot hear well with even modest background chatter… So raise your hand to be recognized to floor and then stay on topic, please!
Show and Tell – Intro only at this time, then discussion after Adjournment.
Tommy Schnettler brought a CG Matrix 40 owned by Wayne Knaust/Walt Wilson. This plane was donated and will be auctioned at Sept meeting with proceeds benefitting the Spirits RC Club
Dave Brown brought a Dynam Gee Bee Y. He says its not fast, but flies great!

3 new members bringing total current membership to 121.
Field Committee Report – Paul Geders, Terry Houts and Greg Tesson.
The runway grinding continues to be a winner. Now feeding Bublicous gum to moles. Tree trimming was mentioned but deferred to a later date, restriping runway to be added to job jar.

In response to general Funding Committee request, Babe Rabe is sponsoring the outhouse!! THANK YOU BABE!
Former longtime member Bob Abt donated 4 flyable aircraft an sundries, these have been being sold with success. THANK YOU BOB!

– general donations of cash or items to auction or raffle. “Donate to the Spirits” on home page.
– Funding Committee is considering ways of recognition via permanent markers at field for contributors. Bricks,
signage, naming, etc

– rain dates should be following Sat unless something else is already on calendar at field, then cancelled.
Float Fly-In – Take 2 @ Steve Pokorny’s Thu, Aug 7, 3pm …it was rainy again, but a good time was had by all just the same. Thank you Steve for your brilliant hospitality!
Spirits 3rd Annual Radio Control Airshow and Fun-Fly Sept 13
-Bart Asher has been putting significant efforts into the planning and promotion of this event. He has secured significant sponsorship and prize packages…at least 5 complete NIB aircraft and counting, plus much more! He reviewed some of the events that will be presented to contestants as well as many ‘show’ and ‘hobby promotion’ plans that will be associated with this event. This will be a Spirits of St Louis RC Flying Club showcase event – all members should plan to participate in some capacity – competitor or helping with the many expected spectators/potential new members. Anyone that will be available to help should reach out to Bart (posting to be added to website promptly) and advise what you are available to do and when.
Due to the nature of this event, we will be asking for $5 donations per car for spectators and there will be a modest landing fee for competitors to offset concessions (included for competitors) and cost of operations/materials for the show. All the latest details will be on website in event’s posting.
