Waco YMF-5 part 9

Stringers! Each former had to be notched for the stringers. I grabbed by Dremel and tripled up diamond grinders. This made the correct width and nearly the right depth. Tedious! And plenty of mistakes no one will ever see.

Set the angle of the wheel pants so I can drill the attachment points and mount blind nuts. Waiting on epoxy to dry while I write this article.

Center wing incidence is -2 degrees….not set yet. The cabanes remain to be permanently attached. Shout out to Rich and Wayne for helping solder the cabane connectors and tig welding the wheel pant attachment brackets. Did you notice the leading edge sits 33″ off the ground?!

The 1/32nd ply is messy around the seams but it is structural and will never be seen. The plywood gets an aluminum outer skin with litho plate; which is about 10-15 thousands of an inch thick.

Motor should arrive soon. Hoping it gets here for the next club meeting. I selected the UMS 210cc five cylinder radial turning a 32×10 prop.
