Walt's P-47 Thunderbolt

The plane is built from a Top Flite 1/8th scale kit and is finished to depict a P-47M-1-RE flown out of England by the 61st Fighter Squadron, 56th Fighter Group in March, 1945. 

Source material for the paint scheme is a 5-view illustration and photo in "Republic Thunderbolt" by Roger A. Freeman, published in London, England by Dulcimus Books Ltd. 

Itıs powered by an O.S. 120 FS and is finished in Top Flite LusterKote and Rustoleum over fiberglass. It has Robart pneumatic retracts and flaps. 

The pictures were taken on the ramp in front of the Confederate Air Force hanger at Smartt Field.

The lady is Walt's daughter, Shari Blodgett.
