Walt's Tony

Walt Wilson's Kawasaki Ki-61 "Tony" was scratch-built from five-view drawings and photos in a Japanese publication "Famous Airplanes of the World". The entire book was in Japanese except the title. Color documentation came from there too. It has a foam wing and built up balsa fuselage. Power is an O.S. .61FSR. It has retracts, and took "Best of Scale" in the 1983 and 1984 WARBIRDS contests. Walt flew it to ninth overall in 1983 and Ralph Doyle flew it to third in 1984. Pictures have been in R/C Scale Modeler magazine.
